In this age of technological development this topic presents system for automatic selection of clamping surfaces in turning process i.e. for rotational components. The general strategy of the system aim to define all possible set-ups that allows complete machining of the component. Three types of criteria i.e. component geometry, chuck geometry, geometric tolerance criteria have been provided to eliminate those set-ups or set-up combinations incompatible with the process constraints. The system takes into account the geometrical shape of component, geometrical shape of the chuck as well as dimensions of the chuck and the geometric tolerance provided by the design. The system classifies geometrical shape of the rotational component on the basis of external and internal shape. Classifications of chucks are based up on the capacity, invariable parameters. Component surfaces are codified using numeric indexes. After indexing, strategy to reject the invalid clamping surfaces is applied. All the related information is saved in standard database. A program is developed which gives the set-up combination for holding the components.

Dr. Rajendra M. Belokar machte 1987 seinen Abschluss an der Amravati University, Amravati, Indien, und promovierte 1999 bzw. 2010 an der Punjab University Chandigarh, Indien. Zurzeit arbeitet er an der PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh, Indien. Zu seinen Interessengebieten gehören TQM, TPM, VE, POM, SCM und die Gestaltung von Fertigungssystemen.
