The principles of action of cryogenic vacuum pumping devices – condenser and sorption type pipes with liquid helium and nitrogen, as well as solid nitrogen, as a coolant are detailed. The design and technological features, photos of the operating cryogenic vacuum pimps are given, as well as the theory of their calculation, the results of pilot research and performance figures. The role of adsorbents in cryogenics and utilization of cryogenics in research and applications are considered. A helium cryostat for investigation of superconductors and the role of cryogenics in medicine is discussed. The prospects of the utilization of cryogenics in power engineering, space research, different engineering processes and other important for mankind problems are set out.

Chief Researcher, Head of Laboratory of Cryogenic Engineering and Technology, the author of more than 180 scientific works and patents, employed at Sukhumi Institute of Physics and Technology that is engaged in design and production of defence industry equipment and facilities, electron accelerators and guns, HTSCs.
