Contrary to Elster's Normative Marxism,he attempts to show that Marx formulates a scientific theory of society (materialistic conception of history) which suggests that he never bases his thoughts on any moral norms or ideals.

Haroon Rashid is a professor of philosophy at Dhaka University,Bangladesh.He obtained Ph.D. degree on Marxism in 2002 and contributed a good number of research papers on Marxism and philosophy in national and international journals. He is working as an Editor of Encyclopedia of Bangladesh War of Liberation project, Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
