Since the onset of the declared Global War on Terror, as a result of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Centre and the pentagon most of the countries in the world have heeded to the universal call by the United States to work in unity to ensure the War on terror is won. However important to note is that in the pursuit of winning this war most of the countries allied to the United States in ensuring terror is rooted out, have found themselves compromising human Rights in order to ensure terrorism is rooted out. This therefore necessitates the important conversation on whether it is true that a country cannot win the war on terror while at the same time upholding and safeguarding human rights. This research project therefore, provides helpful insight on how the war on terror can be won without compromising on human rights while at the same time highlighting the cases in which human rights were compromised in the pursuit of winning the war on terror with the specific case study being KENYA.
