Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative movement disorder with a prevalence in the general population of 0.1-0.3% and an unknown etiology. Despite being classically considered a motor disease, non-motor symptoms (dysautonomic, sensory, emotional and sleep disorders) exist in 90% of patients, some with very early onset and therefore may act as clinical biomarkers of the disease. Genetic forms of PD may account for 15% of cases, and in 2004 the first mutations were discovered in the LRRK2 gene, considered the genetic factor of greatest risk for developing PD. One of these mutations was detected in families from Gipuzkoa, and in the context of this research an epidemiological study was carried out between 2009 and 2010 in the municipalities of Azpeitia and Azkoitia to see the prevalence of PD, and among other variables, the frequency of these possible clinical biomarkers. Analyzing this same sample after 10 years is of interest to assess the weight of factors such as age, non-motor symptoms, and environmental factors in the development of PD. 52 pp. Englisch.
