This book tries to find out the best integrated management practices against sugarcane stem borer to obtain highest yield of sugarcane. More precisely, it deliberately comments about identification of stem borer species infesting sugarcane and their distribution in sugar mill zones, screening of sugarcane varieties against insect pests under field condition, impact of morphological and biochemical attributes of sugarcane on their response to stem borer, efficacy of detrashing, removal of primary infested cane and an insecticides against sugarcane stem borer and integration of different IPM components to develop suitable packages for suppressing sugarcane stem borer. In terms of better understanding it illustrates the findings with easily understandable illustrations, graphs and tables. A handsome number of references on stem borer is accumulated as literature cited in the back part of the book. Moreover, a comprehensive package of IPM techniques is mentioned in the materials and methods section of the book. The book is thus useful for the researchers, agriculture students, extension workers and conscious reader who has some interest in integrated pest management.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman is currently working as Principal Scientist and Head, Entomology Division of Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute, Ishurdi, Pabna. He has been work as Scientist in this institute from 1998. He completed his Ph.D work on IPM of Sugarcane Stem Borer from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Bangladesh.
