In this study, a mathematical model based on the knapsack problem was proposed to represent the selection of control measures that maximize the reduction of risk factors in an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. In addition, metaheuristic solution algorithms were selected and adapted to the studied problem in order to optimize the results.
