This book of research shows various techniques proposed for prospering greenness at the data processing plane where massive portion of energy consumption in communication medium occurs. The author analyses all the components of the router to know where more power gets consumed and identified that the Line Card component of the router consumes more power. The researcher defined an algorithm to reduce energy consumption in Line cards by selectively powering the forward engine component of the Line Card. This proposal considers modern routing 2T architecture as the reference platform to yield more energy savings in IP routers. The methodology is evaluated using Average packet Queue length, Average waiting time and the Utilization factor (ρ).
