Il est né en 1970 à Täova. Après ses études primaires et secondaires, il a obtenu un diplôme de la faculté d'éducation de l'OMU en 1992. Il a obtenu sa maîtrise en design graphique MU ASD en 1999. Erdal, universitaire depuis 31 ans, a écrit cinq livres, 60 articles et plus de 50 congrès et chapitres de livres internationaux dans son domaine.
