This study investigates the relationship between strategic innovation and competitive advantage in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Ethiopia, emphasizing the mediating role of human capital. In a rapidly evolving market, strategic innovation is crucial for SMEs seeking to differentiate themselves and maintain relevance. The research highlights how innovative practices, such as adopting new technologies and developing unique products or services, can significantly enhance a firm's competitive position. capital, defined as the skills, knowledge, and experience of employees, plays a vital mediating role in this relationship. The findings suggest that when SMEs invest in their workforce through training and development, they can better harness strategic innovations, leading to improved performance and competitive advantage. This study employs quantitative methods to analyze data from a sample of SMEs, revealing that both strategic innovation and human capital are critical for achieving sustainable growth. By focusing on the Ethiopian context, the research provides valuable insights for policymakers and business leaders aiming to foster an innovative culture within SMEs.
