The EFTA (European Free Trade Association), better known by its acronym EFTA (European Free Trade Association), is an intergovernmental organization established for the promotion of free trade and economic integration among its member states.is a trade bloc currently composed of four European countries that are not part of the European Union (EU): Iceland Liechtenstein Norway and Switzerland. Its main function, unlike the European Union, the EFTA does not seek a political union, nor a common customs union, its objective is to: manage free trade among its members, coordinate the European Economic Area (EEA), which allows Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein to participate in the internal market of the European Union (EU) without being members of it. Negotiate free trade agreements with countries around the world (such as the one with Mercosur).
