This study, which takes an exploratory approach, is based on thirty (30) loan applications submitted to SFD PAMECAS and aims to identify the variables that may significantly influence financing decisions. A set of selected variables was used to build multi-level models to understand how PAMECAS justifies its financing decisions. The results highlight the importance of sectors such as services and manufacturing, the formal status of the SME, bank account activity, on-site visits, and business plans.
