Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) has become a cornerstone of regenerative dentistry for restoring alveolar bone defects and facilitating successful implant therapy. This dissertation reviews the biological principles of GBR and explores the evolving role of biomimetic materials in enhancing bone regeneration. It discusses the properties, mechanisms of action, and clinical applications of biomimetic grafts, barrier membranes, bioactive ceramics, polymers, growth factor-based systems, and tissue-engineered scaffolds. Recent advances, including nanotechnology, biomolecule-functionalized materials, and smart biomaterials, are also highlighted for their potential to improve regenerative outcomes. Current evidence from experimental and clinical studies is critically evaluated to assess the effectiveness and limitations of these materials. By integrating contemporary scientific knowledge with clinical perspectives, this dissertation provides a comprehensive overview of biomimetic strategies that are shaping the future of guided bone regeneration in periodontology and implant dentistry.
