Introduction: Health simulation is a key educational tool for training healthcare professionals, but it poses significant logistical challenges. Generative artificial intelligence (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) opens up new possibilities: conversational virtual patients, support for scenario design, and assistance with debriefing. This study presents a literature review synthesizing the currently available data on the use of generative artificial intelligence in educational simulation in the health sciences. Methodology: A narrative literature review structured according to the PRISMA guidelines, conducted using three databases (PubMed/MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, Google Scholar) between June and July 2026. After removing duplicates and selecting articles based on title, abstract, and then full text, twelve articles were included in the narrative synthesis.ResultsThe twelve included studies confirm the feasibility and acceptability of generative virtual patients, with generally favorable learner satisfaction indicators (over 90% in some studies)
