Feasibility Study of a Health Microinsurance System: For the Establishment of a Community Health Mutual Aid Fund in the Rural Community of Diakhao, Senegal - Softcover

This study sought to identify the factors affecting feasibility (relevance and sustainability) for the establishment of a community-based mutual health financing system within the rural community of Diakhao (western Senegal). To this end, the study involved two phases of research. The first phase aimed to verify the prerequisites justifying the project's relevance. The second phase sought to identify the social, economic, institutional, and financial feasibility conditions for the proposed health mutual aid scheme. These investigations were conducted at three levels: among households, among healthcare providers, and among local authorities. Analysis of the collected data enabled the development of contribution/benefit scenarios tailored to the mutual health insurance plan's objective of limiting its benefits to health posts in the Diakhao community during the first phase of the plan's development.
