本书从应用的角度出发，对三种最基本的电子元器件：电阻、电感和电容进行了讲述，其中主要是以它们的组成材料和生成过程来说明其电特性方面的差异，以及在应用中如何解决温度、压力和水气等环境因素所带来的影响。全书共分为4章。第1章电阻，讲述电阻的一般常识、种类和应用;第2章电感，在对电感进行讲述中，以变压器为主，分别讲述了低频变压器和高频变压器的应用设计和加工工艺，以及组成变压器的磁性材料、漆包线、骨架、绝缘介质等。第3章电容，以介质为主分别讲述了不同介质电容器的特性和应用，最后还讲述了安规电容;第4章介绍R、L、C在接地、隔离、屏蔽和电磁兼容（EMC）电的应用。另外，在各章节中还分别加进去了一些相应的国家标准。 本书具有较强的实用性和可操作性，可供从事电子技术应用、设计、开发、生产、调试工作的工程技术人员阅读，也可供高等学校电力电子技术专业的师生参考。另外，还可作为《开关电源原理与应用设计》一书的辅助参考书。
