《克诺尔普》
黑塞本人非常偏爱的一部作品。主人公是一个四处漂泊的流浪汉，他善良、热爱自由，总是为身边的人带来幸福。当他年老而病重时，他回到了故乡。在一个大风雪之夜，他向上帝忏悔了自己碌碌无为的一生，但是上帝向他微笑，说他是自己的爱子，因为他把喜悦和自由带给了他人。和上帝对话后，他在大雪中安宁地长眠了。
