《世说新语》是我国魏晋南北朝时期"志人小说"的代表作，为言谈、轶事的笔记体短篇小说。此次整理，将《世说新语》原文排为正文，将刘孝标的注文排为小字夹注，以清光绪年间王先谦思贤讲舍校订本为底本，参校了明代嘉靖年间袁氏嘉趣堂刻本和清徐乾学传是楼所藏宋淳熙刻本。
