Inhaltsangabe

Graphics is one of the most important elements of information. Computer graphics has revolutionized almost every computer-based application in science and technology. Computer graphics is the study of computer hardware that deals with storage, generation and display of all kinds of images in computer and the computing techniques to logically develop and manipulate those images. This introductory book is a lucid, self-contained presentation of how modern graphics systems work. An illustrated explanation of the working of different graphic algorithms that form the backbone of graphic package are also provided. Computer Graphics is a compulsory subject for BCA, MCA, and BE/B.Tech. students of Computer Science and Information Technology. This book covers the fundamental conceptual aspects of the syllabi of these courses as well as computer graphics module of DOEACC – A and B level courses. While teaching students of different undergraduate and postgraduate computer courses (including CAD courses for professionals), we felt the need for a suitable textbook which would meet the following requirements. 1. A book which deals with the fundamentals of the subject in an easy-to-understand manner without attempting to unfold the myriad of intricate details where the students are susceptible to get bogged down and finally lose interest. The book should provide a path through the complexities of the subject and optimally provide the necessary technical and mathematical background required for studying the subject. 2. A book which is comprehensive and explains the elements from theory to implementation and most importantly has content suited to the common requirements of computer graphics paper in different universities in our country. 3. A book which will provide features of popular graphics applications with brief discussion of underlying technicalities and encourage students for advanced studies in computer graphics and related fields. With the above requirements in view, we have tried to make the book complete and suitable as a text or supplementary text for an introductory course in computer graphics. We believe the book will be effective as it has evolved from the classroom experience—topics that have posed problems to students have been explained clearly. Since study of computer graphics calls for knowledge of basic high school level mathematics including two and three dimensional analytical geometry, trigonometry, vectors and matrix operations, chapter two will provide a ready reference of necessary formulae, rules and definitions. Numerous examples and solved problems with illustrations have been given in most of the chapters to consolidate the concepts discussed; review questions collected from various universities and institutes all over India are given at the end of each chapter and this will help the students prepare well for examination.
