From the dawn of the last quarter of the 20th century, especially from the mid-1990s, Indian university libraries have made provision for electronic information resources and services. The main intention of making provision for electronic information resources and services was to improve the quality of library services for the benefit of academic community. The university libraries in Tamil Nadu are also making considerable efforts in this direction.
