Born in 1964, Yuma Vasuki graduated from the Government Arts and Crafts College in Kumbakonam. The Tamil Nadu Government adjudged Ratha Uravu, the Tamil original of Blood Ties, the best book of 2000. Yuma Vasuki's Iravugalin Nizharpadam repeated the distinction the very next year. Yuma Vasuki has carved a niche for himself in Tamil literature with his contemporary style and vocabulary. He is a young writer with a unique world view shaped by his incredible struggles during a traumatic childhood. It is widely believed that he deserves the highest literary recognition in the land.
