Catalogue of the exhibition Fra Angelico and the Rise of the Florentine Renaissance, on view at the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid from 28 May to 15 September 2019. This catalogue argues that Fran Angelico was a full participant in the artistic, political, and social movements of his time and that his achievement is on par with that of Brunelleschi, Ghiberti, Donatello, Masaccio, Uccello, and Filippo Lippi, who are also discussed in the book.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
The fully illustrated book is authored by Carl Brandon Strehlke (Curator Emeritus, Philadelphia Museum of Art), who has written extensively about the Renaissance masters of the fifteenth century. Ana González Mozo, an expert in Italian painting practice, focuses on the discoveries made during the technical analysis and conservation of the Museo del Prado’s Annunciation Altarpiece and their importance for understanding the creation of a Renaissance work of art. El autor de este libro es Carl Brandon Strehlke (Conservador Emérito del Philadelphia Museum Art), al que se deben numerosos estudios sobre los maestros renacentistas del siglo XV. Ana González Mozo, experta en las técnicas pictóricas italianas, se ha centrado por su parte en los hallazgos que ha ofrecido el estudio técnico del retablo de la Anunciación del Museo del Prado, y en su importancia para conocer mejor el proceso creativo de una obra del Renacimiento.
