Much loved by his patients, Dr. Rodés was also a genuine visionary and leader. He overhauled the structure of Hospital Clínic in Barcelona and set up its Hepatology Department, organized and strengthened its biomedical research capacity, established Fundación Clínic and IDIBAPS, and helped build the repute of the University of Barcelona Medical School.
