Inhaltsangabe

This precious little "carnet d’adresses", to say it as the French, was written and illustrated by three Venetian women. Two of its authors were born in the city, the third “adopted” Venice heart and soul as her own. It reveals to readers the most authentic and exclusive Venice: the city that hosts shops, boutiques, restaurants and "osterie", museums, and so many other places – whether they be all-time favorites or well-kept secrets – of the true Venetians. And now visitors may discover these exquisitely rare and refined experiences for themselves too. Original drawings in a dynamic style lead us through the city by itineraries according to theme: we may go to an elegant boutique for a pair of "papusse" in our favorite color; make a refreshing, delicious stop at a bàcaro (the typical Venetian osteria); discover all of the aromas of a roaster’s rare collection of coffees; or explore the magic of ancient secret gardens that, yes, also exist in Venice, the “city that was born from the sea”. Slowly, with the complicity of the many fascinating Cameo and Curiosity highlights scattered throughout these pages, Venice reveals itself to readers in a new, fascinating, and decidedly chic and feminine way.My Pretty Venice is so much more than a simple guide. It is a precious object of desire, a book to enjoy page after page, something nice to give to a best girlfriend, or to pack on that solitary weekend getaway... or to share with your partner for informative idea-packed reading for the next holiday...

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Isabella Campagnol and Elisabeth Rainer are co-founders of Pretty Nice, an agency specialized in wedding planning, event organization and interior styling in Venice, Rome and Bolzano. Born and brought up in Venice, Isabella adores every corner of her lagoon, and especially the island of Murano where she lives in a converted glass factory, though her heart takes her to Rome (the Eternal City) too. A scholar specialized in the history of textiles, fashion and the decorative arts, she is the author of Forbidden Fashions. Invisible Luxuries in Early Modern Venice (Texas Tech University Press, 2014). A love of languages brought Elisabeth, who is a native of the Italian South Tyrol area, to “dip her toes” in the Venetian lagoon: as soon as she has the chance, she is off to her beloved apple orchards, but she always comes back... Multilingual, an expert in marketing and communications, she teaches and conducts seminars at universities and cultural institutions in Italy and abroad.Beatrice Campagnol is the artistic soul of the group. A graduate of the Fine Arts Academy of Venice, for many years she led a successful career in the Milan fashion world. Today she designs her creations independently and lives at a more relaxing pace with her family on her property in Sicily. Beatrice works with Pretty Nice on its projects as graphics artist and illustrator.  It is only by chance thatLorenzano Di Renzo has not made photography – which has always been his passion – his career too. He loves to capture the unusual and unexpected in daily life. He freezes these moments with his camera, or rather, more often so with his cell phone.
