These notes illustrate the basic elements for analysis and design of linear control systems. With 15 chapters and an appendix of 4 sections the notes start from the notion of mathematical model (system), explaining its important role in the study of a phenomenon and how linear models can arise in practice.

STEFANO BATTILOTTI is a professor of automatic Control at DiaG, the Department of Computer, Control, and Management engineering "Antonio Ruberti" at Sapienza University of Rome. His research interests are focused on state estimation and control of deterministic and stochastic nonlinear systems with noisy or partial state information and control of systems over networks. He is author of noninteracting control with stability for nonlinear systems (lnCiS, Springer Verlag, 1994) and co-author (with C. Gori Giorgi, S. Monaco and S. Di Gennaro) of teoria dei Sistemi 1.5 esercizi svolti di esame (euroma, 1997) and teoria dei Sistemi - Complementi ed esercizi (euroma, 1998).
