The Dutch artists were the first in Europe to reveal the beauty of their country's landscape. Selecting 40 masterworks, Van Os demonstrates that what we currently find 'beautiful' in the Dutch landscape has been largely shaped by these artists.
In her contribution, Louise Fresco explains how these paintings reflect the human presence in the Dutch landscape down through the centuries.
