Ronald Naar (19 April 1955 - 22 May 2011) was a Dutch mountaineer known as Netherlands' most famous adventurer and expedition leader. His expeditions took him to the far corners of the earth, from the icy mountains in Greenland via the tropical volcanoes in Ecuador into the thin air of the Himalayan mountain range. His expeditions to the wilderness of our planet, which numbered over thirty, meant rigorous and dangerous training. Lessons learned in these environments were incorporated into Naar's lectures for the business world, and now they are published in this volume. In "Going for the Top" Ronald Naar described the most memorable moments of his expeditions to Greenland, Antarctica, Mount Everest and K2. The thread running through these stories can be clearly followed in seventeen statements in which he sets out the essence of successful teamwork, setting objectives, coaching and leadership - statements which could benefit every manager, entrepreneur, or chairman of the board. "Going for the Top" is illustrated with breathtaking photographs by the author. Ronald Naar died in 2011 while climbing Cho Oyu in Tibet at an altitude of around 8000 metres (26,200 feet). Ref FTW15.
