This text begins with a basic introduction to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamic modelling principles for scientists with minimal formal training in the area. The theory is explained through the use of diagrams and graphics amd complex mathematical models are kept to a minimum. Underlying principles, such as clearance, potency, tolerance, weighting and search algorithms and issues of programme validation are also discussed. This revised second edition text offers expanded sections on pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic theory and modelling concepts. There are chapters on NCA, non-linear kinetics (capacity, time, flow and binding), turnover concepts, pulsative functions, push-and-pull and precursor models. Determination of initial parameter estimates for complex models, binding and displacement models and toxicokinetic models are also included.
