Inhaltsangabe

The Real Sub-Offs: Reply to M. Descaves is a critical and polemical work authored by Georges Darien and Édouard Dubus. Published as a response to the views expressed by M. Descaves, a French author and military figure, this book serves as both a critique and a challenge to prevailing notions about the military and its role in French society, particularly concerning the lower ranks of the military. The work focuses on the figure of the "sub-officer" (sub-officier), a rank within the military, often associated with non-commissioned officers (NCOs) who play a pivotal role in the day-to-day functioning of the military. In this reply, Darien and Dubus seek to address what they perceive as the idealized or distorted portrayals of these military figures in Descaves' work, presenting a more grounded and critical view of their actual condition.
