The multifaceted Rajshekhar Basu (1880-1960), who wrote under the pseudonym ‘Parashuram’, was one of Bengal’s great humourists, apart from being an accomplished essayist and lexicographer, and a distinguished chemist. His stories were always illustrated by his friend, the artist Jatindrakumar Sen (1882-1966). Together, the stories and sketches were an intrinsic part of the lives of generations of Bengalis.
