She is an international workshop leader working with the vibration of the voice, and author of the books Sound Healing, Pojo e Srce (Singing Heart) and Glas Ti ine (The Voice of Silence). As a stage performer, Shirlie toured Europe and America for three years in the mid-seventies with cult British rock band The Kinks in their concept musicals and later joined the Gordon Giltrap Band using her high vocal range as an instrument in amongst Giltrap s classical/progressive rock music. She also sang on many studio sessions with artists such as David Gilmore, Mike Oldfield, Ultravox, Ian Gillan, Suzi Quatro and Hot Chocolate. New horizons beckoned in the eighties when British impresario Bill Kenwright commissioned her to write for musical theatre and produced her original shows, and Shirlie also appeared as Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof with Topol at the Manchester Opera House, Musetta in an international cast production of La Boheme at the Kammer Oper in Vienna, as the Narrator in the UK national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat , Prison Office Meg Jackson in Prisoner Cell Block H and all six wives in The Complete Wives of Henry VIII at the Edinburgh Festival. In the nineteen nineties Shirlie s path changed again as she dedicated her writing and singing to lift, relax and inspire people and create an awareness of Mother Earth, and this new direction took her to the Republic of Slovenia where she has performed for over twenty-two years and is now well-known for the healing, uplifting power of her voice, her concerts and sound workshops. This year saw the premiere of her Simply Slovenia Suite her songs about Slovenia arranged for and performed by Shirlie with symphony orchestra.
