Inhaltsangabe

THE LOVE OF CHRIST REVEALED THROUGH HIS SACRED HEART

Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus calls the faithful to contemplate the immeasurable love of Christ-and to answer that love with faith, gratitude, reparation, and consecration.

In this distinctive spiritual work, Fr. Marin de Boylesve, S.J. (1813-1892) leads readers beyond a simple introduction to the devotion. Drawing upon Scripture and Catholic teaching, he reveals the Heart of Jesus throughout the mysteries of the Gospel, from the Incarnation and hidden life of Christ to His Passion, the Cross, and the lance that pierced His side.

Fr. de Boylesve then explores the profound relationship between the Sacred Heart and the three Persons of the Blessed Trinity. His meditations show how the petitions of the Our Father, the sacraments of the Church, and the seven gifts of the Holy Ghost may all be understood in the light of Christ's divine love.

Accessible yet rich in spiritual insight, this book is suitable for personal meditation, Eucharistic devotion, preparation for the First Fridays, and anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge and love of the Sacred Heart.

This first English edition includes:

- Fr. de Boylesve's complete reflections on the Sacred Heart

- The Nine First Fridays and the Twelve Promises

- Guidance for the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the home

- Acts of consecration and reparation

- The Litany of the Sacred Heart

- Prayers to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus

- Traditional prayers for priests, the Church, sinners, and times of need

- A biography of the author

- Annotations and sixteen sacred illustrations

Fr. Marin de Boylesve was an ardent nineteenth-century French promoter of devotion to the Sacred Heart. His writings contributed to the wider devotional movement associated with the eventual construction of the Basilica of Sacré-Coeur in Paris.

A substantial treasury of teaching, meditation, and prayer for those who wish to know the Heart of Jesus more deeply and respond more faithfully to His love.
