Alwaleed, an illegitimate son to a rich man to a man oblivious to his existence and whom he equally knows little about it, joins the Islamic factions fighting against the Syrian regime. He is later confronted with truths about his past that prove to be more formidable than his Jihadi mission. Meanwhile, after being told by a religious augur that his past has to come back and haunt him, the father begins his unholy voyage to protect himself at all costs, even if that happens to be his only son.

Biografía del autor

Jamal Naji is a Jordanian novelist and short story writer who was shortlisted for the IPAF in 2010 for his novel I'ndama Thasheekh Al-Dhiaab (When Wolves Got Old). He wrote a dozen of novels and short story collections and published his work in well-known publishing houses in the Arab World. He is awarded the Prize of the Jordanian State 2014 for his narrative writing, which is the most prestigious prize awarded in Jordan.

Paula Haydar has translated several novels by leading Lebanese novelists Sahar Khalifah and Elias Khoury. She won the Arkansas Arabic Translation Prize for her translation of Khoury's The Kingdom of Strangers. She was also the runner-up for the 2008 Saif Ghobash-Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation.
