As we move further into the new century and millennium, our work as poets has been compounded by the circumstances of the time in which we've all been working : events that have both reinforced that work-as poetry and prophecy-and an upsurge of forces that have come to stand against it. It is in this sense that we are proposing here an omnipoetics of the American hemisphere, as an experimental instance of what might be attempted further on a worldwide scale, toward what one of us once described as "an anthology of everything".

À la fois poète, traducteur et interprète, de renommée internationale, Jerome Rothenberg a publié près d'une centaine d'ouvrages poétiques dont douze recueils de poésie traditionnelle ou d’avant-garde tels que Technicians of the Sacred et Poems for the Millennium. Il est une des figures fondatrices de l’ethnopoésie comme association entre pratique et théorie poétique. Il se consacre depuis longtemps à la performance poétique de façon expérimentale autant que conceptuelle. Ses ouvrages majeurs parus récemment sont Eye of Witness: A Jerome Rothen­berg Reader et Barbaric Vast & Wild (Poems for the Millennium, vol. 5). Parmi ses oeuvres récem­ment traduites en français, on peut découvrir Techniciens du Sacré (José Corti), Pologne/1931, Khurbn (Caractères), Journal Seneca (José Corti) et Secouer la citrouille (Presses universitaires de Rouen et du Havre).
