On August 4, 2026, during our daily Power Up Prayer Call, which convenes each morning at 6:30 a.m., the members and friends of Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem and I began a journey through the Book of Proverbs. As Pastor and People, we committed ourselves to walking through this remarkable book of biblical wisdom, chapter by chapter, seeking to hear what God would say to us about the practical matters of everyday life. What a wonderful journey it has been!
Morning after morning, we gathered on the prayer line. Some joined while preparing for work. Others listened while sitting quietly in their homes. Some were already traveling to work, while others simply wanted to begin their day with prayer and the Word of God. Regardless of where we were physically, at 6:30 each morning we were united by a common desire: Lord, give us wisdom for today.
That desire became the inspiration for this book. Wisdom for Daily Living: Lessons from the Book of Proverbs is a complete collection of the 34 morning devotionals that I shared during our journey through Proverbs. Although there are 31 chapters, we took three mornings on chapter one as a basic introduction to the book. Each devotional grew out of a particular chapter and was designed not merely to explain the text, but to help us apply its wisdom to our daily lives.
