Inhaltsangabe

By the Will of Allah is a story about an American film crew in Saudi Arabia during the time of the Iran Revolution of 1979 and the American hostage crisis that ensued - a pivotal episode in the history of Iran-United States relations. The title of the book is of the same name as a movie that is fictionally filmed in the story based on the romance between an ancient Saudi queen and her beloved prince. Sparked by political unrest in Iran, tensions arise within the Arab world against Western culture in general, and against the United States in particular. The American film crew find themselves caught in the middle of a volatile and hostile environment fueled by cultural, religious, and political ideologies vastly different from their own. With each passing day, the film crew's stay and safety in Saudi Arabia turns in to increased anxiety and uncertainty as they race against time to finish shooting the picture. In addition to feeling the pressure of having to wade through uncertain world events while trying to complete their filming schedule in a foreign land, the American film crew has to deal cleverly but gingerly with intrigue that is brewing from two minor princes from the House of Saud toward two of the film's actresses. Just as things are building up to a frenzied climax, an unusual twist brings By the Will of Allah to a surprising but exciting conclusion.
