EPC Project Management Handbook – Volume 2 is designed as a comprehensive technical and practical reference for professionals responsible for transforming EPC plans into coordinated project execution. Rather than treating engineering, procurement and construction as separate departmental functions, the book examines the interfaces between them and the management systems required to make the complete EPC organization perform as one integrated delivery system.
The manuscript begins its engineering-management coverage with a fundamental premise: technically correct discipline designs can still fail if they are not coordinated, constructible, procureable, testable, maintainable and operationally usable at the required time. This principle is central to modern EPC project management because engineering decisions can influence equipment selection, procurement lead times, construction methodology, installation sequencing, commissioning, cost and schedule.

The logistics and material-management philosophy follows the same integrated approach. Manufacturing completion is not equivalent to site availability. Materials must pass through inspection, release, packaging, transportation, customs, port handling, inland transportation, receiving, storage, preservation and material issue before they become available to construction.

The construction-management section then brings together the outputs of engineering and procurement and converts them into executable workfronts.
The book emphasizes that construction is the physical realization of engineering and must integrate engineering information, procurement, labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, workfronts, temporary facilities, quality, HSE, logistics and commissioning.

A late engineering deliverable may delay procurement.

A late vendor drawing may delay engineering.
