Each week of this trimester we have included testimonies of all kinds of people who are doing just that--they have been transformed--from atheists and people who practiced witchcraft and new age, to Muslims, Hindus or people who were abused and broken. Some of these stories are longer and can be watched at a later time, but we encourage you to watch at least one testimony a week or any that pique your interest because it WILL change your life! Scripture says that we overcome the Enemy (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. (Revelation 12:11) As you watch these testimonies of real people whose lives have been changed by the Lord Jesus Christ, it will build your faith and help you to learn to live an overcoming, extraordinary life and to be able to share it with others who doubt.
As you learn how to defend your faith this Trimester, think of yourself like a heart surgeon, not a debate champion. A good heart surgeon doesn’t walk in swinging a scalpel at the first thing they see — they carefully, gently peel back layer after layer until they can actually see what’s going on underneath. That’s what you’re being trained to do with people’s belief systems: not to attack what’s on the surface, but to gently, patiently peel back the layers — their assumptions, their hurts, their questions — until you both can see what’s really there. Surgery like that takes patience, a steady hand, and real love for the person on the table. It is never about winning an argument. It’s about helping someone finally see clearly.
The goal here is NOT to win arguments, but to win people. It is to empathize with them wherever they may be on their spiritual journey and gently ask questions that will get them thinking about reality in a fresh, new way. There are conversation starters each week to help you genuinely connect with people of other faiths, or no faith at all. We do not need to convince them; the Holy Spirit will do that.
