Eleven-year-old Lily lives a quiet, lonely life in a village beside a forbidden forest. Her parents won't let her past the garden fence, the girls at school tease her, and animals, strangely, are never afraid of her.
One moonlit night, a trail of footprints leads Lily into the forest, where she meets Star, a golden dog who can speak to her, and Summer, a bright macaw from a hidden jungle.
