Inhaltsangabe

Behind the Blue is the second publication from Indie Author and Connecticut resident, Sharon Arsego. While her first poetry collection, Cadence, was more nature infused and inspired by the light, Behind the Blue is poetry and prose about moments and emotions born out of living within the varying shades of life's shadows. Behind the Blue begins in the darkness that often consumes us, and gradually moves towards the slivers of light that lift us out of it.

Behind the Blue contains over ninety pieces within four chapters or sections: Nightshade, Moonbeams, Bella Luna and Stardust. The mood of Behind the Blue begins in the darkest shadows of Nightshade, moves into the dusky light of Moonbeams, leads the reader into the more welcoming light of Bella Luna, and leaves them with Stardust, a sprinkling of poetic prose and verse.

From the author: "In many ways, while Cadence was a collection sharing my observations of the natural world and internalizing that life inward, Behind the Blue is my internal life and dialogue, my mind's eye, if you will, being shared with the outside world."

A poetic Prologue and Epilogue are included in the total of (87) pieces of poetry and prose within Behind the Blue.

Nightshade: (17) pieces including In the night there are shadows of shadows, and Heartbroken
Moonbeams: (18) pieces, including Close to the Vest, I always knew you were on loan, and Embrace the Suck
Bella Luna: (21) pieces, including The Comeback, A Dark Side, and Be a Thorn
Stardust: (29) pieces

Completed in the weeks following Arsego's uterine cancer diagnosis and related surgeries, she describes the experience, "as seeing life through a more sharply focused lens." Also, as one living with anxiety and depression most of her life, Arsego also strongly supports efforts to improve mental health education and awareness, and hopes the message within the pages of Behind the Blue will serve as a useful contribution to the movement.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Sharon Arsego became an avid reader at an early age thanks to the encouragement and active participation of her family. As a result of her love of books, she developed an appreciation for words and word play which naturally led to her writing her own pieces. With mentors and a myriad of creative influences in various aspects of her life, Arsego began entertaining the idea of publishing her work. This idea soon became a deep desire that she and her professors nurtured while she pursued her B.A. in English Studies at Saint Joseph College (now the University of Saint Joseph) in West Hartford, CT. While it would be thirty years before her debut poetry collection, Cadence: Poems (2023) was published, the experience cemented Arsego's long held belief that writing was indeed her passion. Current works in progress include additional poetry, non-fiction, memoirs, and a three book children's book series. Sharon Arsego is a lifelong resident of New England with an appreciation for nature and all its mysteries. Raised in Torrington, CT, Arsego currently lives in Bristol, CT with her rescue feline, Big Mitts Mackenzie (Mack), and holds a position with the City. When not reading or writing, she enjoys supporting and networking with fellow artists and writers, streaming comedies, dramas and whodunnits, sharing belly laughs with her family and friends, and quiet downtime at home or in nature. Arsego is a uterine cancer survivor and strongly advocates for early and consistent screening.
