June Naylor Franklin Award Winner - Best Book for Children on Texas History - Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

A moving story about two children experiencing the wild Texas frontier in the 1840’s. Perfect for Texas History students and all who love adventure.

Anna Schupp and her brother, Henry, are on a dangerous journey across the wild Texas Hill Country and find themselves at the mercy of the harsh frontier and the Native Americans who live there. They set out from New Braunfels, a small German town on the edge of civilization, and head into the wild unknown to build the future town of Fredericksburg. What they find there will change them forever.

The actual story of the European immigration to Texas unfolds as the fictional characters, Anna and Henry Schupp live their adventures as children of the early immigrants. ~ Evelyn Weinheimer - Archivist and Historian, Pioneer Museum, Fredericksburg, TX.
