Inhaltsangabe

Embark on an intriguing journey through the realms of physics, neuroscience, and philosophy with "Plato's Prisoners." In this thought-provoking narrative, you will find yourself immersed in a legal case involving humans and artificially intelligent machines, prompting you to challenge the conventional view of a purely physical universe. Inspired by modern science and drawing upon Plato's allegory of the cave, you will delve into the nature of reality, questioning the seemingly solid world around you. Drawing from neurogenetics, quantum mechanics, and modern idealism, "Plato's Prisoners" explores the observer-based nature of reality. While encountering phenomena like wave-particle duality and the timeless nature of light, a thought-provoking concept called "Flip-Book Idealism" unfolds. Scrutinizing the limitations of materialistic approaches, this book advocates for contemplative studies as a pathway to unravel the intricate fabric concealing the creation of our perceived reality. Addressing the persistent enigma of the "hard problem" of consciousness, "Plato's Prisoners" humbly acknowledges that it does not provide definitive answers. Instead, it aims to highlight the profound significance of this mystery and the unexplored opportunities it offers for deepening our understanding of a re-enchanted universe.

Silvia entered medical school with the purpose of doing research and obtained a PhD in Neuroscience (complex genetics of psychiatric diseases) at Karolinska Institute in 2002. Following post-doctoral training and 4 years of leading her own research team at Karolinska, she switched into consulting and professional problem solving. During her work as a healthcare consultant, she has supported projects focused on data privacy concerns and affordability of innovative medicines, while spending most of her spare time with on the problem of consciousness.
