St. Bridget's School is the true story of a journey taken by an eleven-year-old Austrian immigrant to the United States and settling into an inner-city neighborhood, in nineteen fifties Rochester, NY. Carrying with him a deep loneliness, in a world turned upside down from all that he had known, he was faced with the overwhelming task of finding his way in a new, very foreign place. Good fortune had placed him in a neighborhood full of diverse people, of different nationalities who were very accepting of him, enabling his rapid assimilation. Discovering many amazing things about this new world, he became part of the fabric of the neighborhood. As Cold War times dominated the news, his group of friends became a snap-shot of inner-city life at that time. Although deprived of many advantages, they all came of age together, sharing numerous adventures. Fending for themselves and left to their own creativity, the group of friends of St. Bridget's bonded so closely that sixty years later, they still meet for lunches, keeping the memory of the St Bridget neighborhood in their hearts.
