A scripture-based enrichment to your homeschool day or a family devotional:
The Fruit of the Spirit Learning Guide Through Literature incorporates children’s literature to help deepen connection with our children and God, as we learn more about the fruit of the Spirit. Hopefully while snuggled up together on the couch :).
Hello! As a follower of Jesus, former educator, and homeschool mother, my hope is that this guide is an easy addition to your day without a lot of beforehand preparation. I pray this experience will bring lots of snuggles, laughter, and a deeper connection with your children, as well as the God who loves you all dearly. As we walk through literature that helps us gain a deeper understanding of the fruit of the Spirit, I encourage you to see this guide as a fun way to connect with your children rather than a strict road map. Feel free to go off-script, following where the Spirit leads conversation with your children.
No matter how chaotic a day might feel, or how messy your house may be, there’s something special about what happens when you pick up a book to read with your children. These moments are amazing opportunities for connection and also to talk about the most important relationship they will ever have: their relationship with the God who made them.
Praise for The Fruit of the Spirit Learning Guide Through Literature:
“Crista Ballard has written a homeschool curriculum that will shape how children see and experience God. The Fruit of the Spirit (found in Galatians 5) not only show us what God is like, they give us a vision of the abundant life we are invited into. It is spiritual formation for children and spiritual formation for families. Crista has curated a treasure trove of picture books that will help children identify, cultivate and live off of the Fruit of the Spirit for years to come. I can’t think of a better way to enter into spiritual conversations with children than reading a picture book together and then sharing deep and lasting conversation. I recommend it with joy!”
-Lacy Finn Borgo,
The Student Care Coordinator for the Renovaré Institute for Spiritual Formation, and author of Faith Like a Child: Embracing Our Lives as Children of God, Spiritual Conversations with Children: Listening to God Together and the children’s picture book All Will Be Well.
