Inhaltsangabe

Logical Atomism is the empiricism (as is shown in his Principels of Mathematics (1903)) in combination with formal logic (as is shown in the cooperative masterpiece Principia mathematica (1910-1913) (with AN Whitehead)). Bertrand Russell, in an attempt to revise the British Empiricism as well as to argue against the British Idealism, developes an ideal language with a novel understanding of symbolism.
In the lecture series The Philosophy of Logical Atomism (1918), Russell puts forward a new metaphysics (Lecure 8) with the slogan ‘There are many things in the world.’ Facts, as he proposes, exists in the world with the equal status as things (Lecture 1). Our naming and description of them form the basis of the logical analysis (Lecture 2). The classification of propositions (Lecture 3-5) provides the framework for the theory of types (Lectuer 7). The theory of incomplete symbols (Lecture 6) elucidates the mistaken view rooted in previous philosophies.
In Logical Atomism (1924), which is a response to FH Bradley’s criticism, it has been shown Russell’s intellectual history, previous literature in the philosophy of methematics and his worldview.
Logical Atomism, as a positive and powerful response to early gaints like Aristotle and D Hume, to Russell’s contemporaries like G Frege (the starting-point being known as ‘Russell’s paradox’), GE Moore and L Wittgenstein, to other more scientific attempts, as is put forward by W James and J Dewey, shows Russell’s confidence for the logically perfect language to account for everything that we can speak of, as well as his seeing of the world as being advanced by the evolving of sciences to reach a comprehensive picture of the world with the least risk of error.
