Max Oliva, S. J. is a Jesuit priest from the USA West Province. He joined the Jesuits in 1963 and was ordained in 1972. He has been engaged in retreat ministry since 1980, during which time he also authored seven books on the spiritual journey. In addition, he has served African American people in San Francisco, in a small church in Tijuana, Mexico, and on a Blackfoot Reserve (Reservation) in Southern Alberta, Canada. H has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, San Diego, Calgary, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Spokane, Washington.
