Inhaltsangabe

Proverbs: A Mindfulness Translation. This Mindfulness Translation reclaims Proverbs in the style of an Eastern philosophic text, using terms and categories that bring out the Koan-like sentences and Haiku-style phrasing of the original Hebrew text. The visually clear layout of the book, which contains a translation of the entire text of Proverbs, highlights the translator’s fresh approach to this essential classic of ancient Israelite and global spirituality.

Special Features:

• A concise introduction describes the ancient wisdom context of this text, discusses its authorship, describes the book’s thematic structure, and explains special vocabulary used in this translation.
• The chapters of sayings are arranged as speeches and as collections of sayings, admonitions, aphorisms, and epigrams.
• The work unfolds by thought-units, rather than verse numbers, for ease of reading and comprehension.
• A select bibliography allows further investigation into this classic work of ancient Israelite spirituality and world philosophic speculation.
• The first appendix allows readers to quickly compare this work to typical chapter-and-verse translations of Proverbs.
• The comparative word list lets readers quickly see how key Hebrew wisdom terms are rendered in this work.
