In the autumn of 1922, the remote town of Fairweather Flats, Pennsylvania, is gripped by a suffocating dread. Henry Fairweather, the last of a once great lineage, watches helplessly as his only son, Daniel, succumbs not to illness, but to something far more sinister. The boy vanishes without a trace, only to be found days later his lifeless body contorted in unnatural mirth, his ribs torn open by an impossible bite.
As fear coils around the town, whispers of old legends slither through the streets. The Squenock Tribe, long displaced, had warned of an ancient presence in these lands something that thrives on fear and laughter alike.
Enter Mr. Monument, a spectral investigator whose presence is both a reassurance and an omen. His methods are precise, his demeanor unnervingly calm. He is not new to horrors that walk outside the bounds of reality. A town under siege but by who or what they can not fathom. Mr Monument is this mysterious man, he starts in the library and expands from there, he will encounter The Simmons funeral home where he will meet one of the main characters whose name is Amelia and her father the Funeral director Harold Simmons, here we will learn of the fate of young Master Fairweather. The beguiling Mr Monument is hypnotic like, even the Officer of the town feels conformable with him. The investigation is at hand, a night of terror awaits them in their own homes eerie haunting, shots fired and the mist enveloping them. More deaths will occur, can this village save its self or will darkness encamp around and take them one by one, until only Mr Monument remains. There are bodies bitten and warped the smile being the strangest feature on their dead lifeless faces. The Town has no choice it must make the school its last stand, its bastion of safety and sanity. Miss Anderson the teacher, the hunter, the protector will join in to help the trio of Mr Monument, Amelia and Officer Conners in saving these people. Into the woods they will go to find the bodies and discover what did this. A second group of fearful but determined men will venture out to aid them, more of spirit (Alcohol) than of spirit (Faith). At the end one of the Trio will be dying as Mr Monument fades into the shadows, a young girl crying his name in rage and fury “MONUMENT!!!!”
