Inhaltsangabe

This post-World War II story opens in 1950s Argentina, on Ramóne Street in Córdoba, where a girl named Maira Díaz runs a small newspaper shop. A tourist visits her shop every morning, asking her to read the Spanish dailies for him and if she can find the name Vladimir Kalashnik. He pays her handsomely for reading the news. When this continues for several days, she tells her boyfriend, Santiago Silva, about the tourist. Even Maira’s three friends—Marcela Costa, Lola Ruiz, and Tamara Gomez—wonder why the tourist keeps looking for news of Vladimir Kalashnik. After some investigation, they discover the tourist’s horrific past and why the CIA and Mossad, the Israeli secret service, wanted him. But by then, he had fled Argentina when his identity and his presence became known. Only Maira has a pretty good idea of where the tourist could have possibly gone, and she chalked out a strategy to bring him to book.

The story spans Argentina, India, Mexico, and the United States, following the elusive tourist on the run. It is a story about a group of ordinary girls, with no connection to the war, coming together to try to capture this dangerous fugitive, even before the Mossad has any inkling of his whereabouts. They try to get ahead of even professionals in this cat-and-mouse game, driven by a single ambition—to get into the limelight. But things are not as plain as they thought when they have to deal with a man who is clever and experienced in more ways than one.
