Inhaltsangabe

Journey to the vibrant land of Waianae, where a handsome chief named Hulu falls in love with the beautiful twin sisters, Mailiili and Paheehee. Their inseparable bond presents a challenge: how can Hulu choose just one?

Seeking guidance from a wise Moo (lizard god), the twins learn of a magical transformation that allows them to remain together forever – as two puu (rocky hills) overlooking the breathtaking landscape.

Heartbroken but determined, Hulu pleads with the Moo to be near his love. The Moo bestows upon him a powerful gift, transforming him into a guardian Moo himself – Puu o Hulu.

Standing tall, the three puu – Puu o Mailiili, Puu o Paheehee, and Puu o Hulu – become a permanent symbol of their unwavering love and sacrifice. Their legend inspires generations, reminding us of the power of love, loyalty, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

This enchanting tale, filled with vibrant illustrations, is perfect for all readers especially young readers in grades 4-6. It celebrates the beauty of Hawaii and its rich history, leaving a lasting impression about the importance of love and strong bonds.
